I have lived in the Napa Valley for 20 years now. It is interesting to see the cycle the valley goes through each year. I have found that I can track the year by what is going on in the vineyards. This project of photographing one vineyard through the year now gives you that same perspective. In the fall, when the year's harvest is over, the leaves will once again be red, yellow and orange. From the tops of the hills surrounding the valley, it will look like the valley floor is on fire. It is truly a beautiful time of year. The winter will bring leafless branches and overcast skies. After a rain, raindrops will lineup as they wait to fall from the vines. Spring will be a renewal of life. Vines will be trimmed back and the new shoots will sprout and bloom to begin the new crop of grapes. Summer means hot days and moderate nights with no rain. The harvest will signal the end of the cycle and it will all start over again. I hope you enjoy the photos AND as always...feel free to let me know what you think.
